Today, on 26th October, 2017, The Director General, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Mr. Bashir Memon called on National Coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) to discuss joint roadmap on the subject of Cyber Counter-terrorism, pursuant to the directions of the Minister for Interior.
A threadbare discussion was held on issues incidental to the subject. A need to establish close working relationship between Cyber CT Wing of NACTA and NR3C Wing of FIA was underpinned. The DG (CS&ICT) NACTA briefed the meeting about the ongoing Tat’heer drive of NACTA on cyber counter-terrorism and it’s Surfsafe Portal.
It was emphasized that cyber counter terrorism is a high priority national agenda as has been reflected at item No. 14 in the National Action Plan. The meeting decided to set-up a “Cyber Patrol Unit” within NR3C (Cyber-Crime) wing of FIA, Setting up of a dedicated Cyber CT Investigation Unit within NR3C (Cyber-Crime) Wing of FIA in a month, establishing digital networking among proposed “Cyber Patrol Unit” of FIA and NACTA and Intelligence & Information sharing on Cyber-extremism in a multi-agency Joint Working Group, comprising NACTA, FIA, IB, PTA, NRTC and NFSA (Constituted by Parliamentary Committee on National Security).
