SWAT, November 1, 2017: National Coordinator-NC, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA), Mr. Ihsan Ghani said here Wednesday that the evil of social intolerance is seeping in Pakistani society and even in family strata of social structure in the country.
He said social intolerance is threat to our society which needs to be curbed jointly by the government and society aimed to turn Pakistani society into a tolerant and progressive where dissenting voices are not suppressed or discouraged, but rather heard and encouraged.
The NACTA Chief was addressing the students of University of Swat (UoS) as chief guest at interactive session / seminar on ‘Peace and Tolerance — Youth Centrality’. The interactive session/seminar was the fourth of the series of Youth Engagement Program by NACTA. The event was held in collaboration with management of UoS.
He lauded the courage of students of Swat who braved harsh times in pursuing their education relentlessly despite massive potential threats persisted some years back in the district.
Later, the NC replied questions raised by students of UoS. Earlier, Mr. Arshad Ali Khan Director (P&P) in his opening remarks underlined the significance of peace and tolerance in the country.
Vice Chancellor UoS, Dr. Hasan Sher; Mr. Amjad Hilal, Assistant Professor Law & Sharia, UoS; Director CVE NACTA, Mr. Zia Ullah Khan Toru; Mr. Imran, Sociologist, Department of Social and Gender Studies, UoS, and PRO NACTA, Mr. Mujeeb Talpur were present on the occasion. A large of students attended the seminar.
