29 November, 2018 – On 29th November 2018, Inaugural meeting of Information Sharing Conference was held at National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Headquarters; representatives of security agencies, CTDs and Special Branch members from various provinces took part in the conference.
Member NACTA welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of information sharing to complete threat mosaic of the country in order to highlight its significance in formulating response mechanism to counter terrorism. The cardinal focus of the conference was to enhance corporation, improve coordination and timely exchange of information etc.
After the opening remarks, Member NACTA briefly apprised the participants with the mandate of NACTA and purpose / scope of meeting. Later, Deputy Director (M&C) dilated upon existing procedure of inflow & outflow information and presented summary of threat alerts / information reports received during last quarter. The discourse was followed by a comprehensive brief by Director (E&S) on process of threat evaluation and preparation of threat assessment reports. He outlined salient aspects of the threat assessment reports being compiled at NACTA and outlined the requirements / inputs that NACTA looks forward to from all the stakeholders. In the end participants suggested several measures to encourage and strengthen information sharing mechanism and strive towards making an inclusive threat assessment report.
In his concluding remarks National Coordinator emphasized upon the importance of information sharing in policy formulation. He opined that NACTA relies on the input of all the stakeholder; he emphasized that only a valuable and sound input would lead to cohesive assessment and apt response. Finally, he urged upon the participants to committedly contribute towards this national cause and make Pakistan more secure and peaceful country.
