SWAT, November 1, 2017: National Coordinator, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Mr. Ihsan Ghani said on Wednesday that menace of intolerance could be curbed through multipronged strategies by improving access to information, enforcing human rights laws, banning and punishing perpetrators of hate-speeches and crimes etc. in the country.
He was addressing the students of Swat Jahanzeb College-SJC, Swat, at a one-day interactive session/seminar on ‘Peace and Tolerance — Youth Centrality’. The session was the fifth of the series of Youth Engagement Program by NACTA which was held in collaboration with SJC.
The NC emphatically stated that educators are the most influential social change agents as they are instrumental of promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence; adding that schools creating tolerant environment help young segment of society to understand and respect diversity and diverse cultures.
He said that once young students are trained in an environment of tolerance then tolerance engraves in their behavior which will ultimately help building a society based on tolerating diversity of cultures.
Later, the NACTA Chief replied questions raised by students of SJC. Vice Principal of the College, Professor Riaz; SJC’s Professors Mr. Fazal-i-Rabbi, Mr. Younas, Mr. Javed Iqbal Saqib and its faculty members, and Director CVE NACTA, Mr. Zia Ullah Khan Toru and Deputy Director NACTA, Mr. Mujeeb Talpur were present on the occasion. A large of students attended the interactive session.
