NACTA is currently undertaking a project to ascertain causes and consequences of, “Overcrowding of Prisons in Pakistan” in collaboration with CODE Pakistan. A consultative session with criminal justice officers was hosted by NACTA on 27-28 July, 2017. The stakeholders from all over Pakistan attended the session. Bedsides discussion in general and over all issues arising out of overcrowding of prisons, a special focus was also given to women prisoners.

The participants concluded that data on detainees, both convicted and under trial prisoners from all provinces/regions and ICT be collected, analyzed and recommendations made to Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, besides collecting data about women prisoners.
