Counter-terrorism and counter-extremism are multi-pronged drives which range from kinetic anti-terror operations leading to arrest and prosecution of terrorists to countering financing of terrorism and developing soft interventions aimed at reducing the appeal of extremism. Therefore countering terrorism cannot be covered through a single piece of legislation nor a single agency. The various laws (and their relevant implementing agencies) that are meant to deal with various aspects of anti-terrorism and counter-extremism are listed below in chronological order for ease of reference.
