The Outreach branch of NACTA—with the collaboration of UNODC—held an awareness session at Avari Hotel Karachi, with Members of Sindh Assembly and officers of relevant government departments on Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) on 23rd November 2021. The session was designed to provide platform to policymakers and legislators to discuss and deliberate on challenges of violent extremism and terrorism in Pakistan. The session was attended by senior members of Sindh Provincial Assembly and Government officers.  The session included an opening address by Director General (Outreach) NACTA, who highlighted the role of NACTA and briefly explained some of the initiatives taken by NACTA for countering violent extremism.  The Chief Guest of the session, Mir Shabir Ali Bijrani (Provincial Minister for Mines and Minerals, in his welcome address underlined the need to make a collective effort by all the stakeholders in understanding the dynamics of the problem of violent extremism and appreciated NACTA’s efforts in providing a platform to the policy makers and legislators to deliberate upon this important issue.
